Gmail en Chrome: "Esta versión de Chrome ya no es compatible"

Question

Últimamente, cuando he usado Gmail en Chrome (Versión 46.0.2490.86, 64 bits) hay una pancarta amarilla en la parte superior que dice: "Esta versión de Chrome ya no está compatible. Actualice a un navegador compatible ".

Sin embargo, mi sistema está actualizado; ejecutando Sudo apt-get update; Sudo apt-get upgrade no obtiene actualizaciones para Chrome.

He leído que Google dejó de admitir Chrome en Linux de 32 bits, pero mi sistema es de 64 bits, así que no espero que sea un problema.

¿Alguna idea sobre cómo obtener una versión compatible de Chrome? ¿O para hacer desaparecer este mensaje?

Una posible solución es descargar e instalar la última chrome (.deb) desde

https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/desktop/

Después de descargarlo, debe instalarlo haciendo doble clic en el archivo .deb o ejecutando

Sudo dpkg -i /path/to/local/chrome.deb

Tenga en cuenta: en ese caso no está utilizando repositorios canónicos predeterminados, pero eso no se mencionó como un requisito. la instalación manual de deb también podría agregar una nueva entrada a sus fuentes para actualizaciones posteriores como lo mencionaron otros usuarios.
